Valentine’s Day Character Tag

Hey, everyone! I’ve been wanting to post another character tag, so I decided to do one with a Valentine’s Day theme. Because I acknowledge that some of you enjoy this holiday. I’m going to tag 5 of my Twitter author friends, but anyone who wants to use these questions in a blog or video, feel free!

A character tag is a list of hypothetical questions and situations used to get your readers acquainted with your characters’ personalities.

Only three rules apply: (1) Give a brief description of your current work in progress then (2) use each character no more than twice. And use the #ValentinesDaycharactertag hashtag when re-blogging.

Description of my current WIP:

Kya is a YA Low Fantasy novel set in the not-too-distant future of earth.
The book revolves around Kya, a spirited young woman who comes to Raven Fortress in search of her brother and wishing to hone her magical power. But the Fortress is not what she was lead to believe and dark forces seek to destroy her at every turn. To survive, Kya must help her clan climb the ranks and be promoted out of the Fortress and onto the battlefield. But the Fortress proves to be a battlefield of its own…

1. Which one of your characters absolutely loves Valentine’s Day, and who wants to burn it with fire? I think most of my characters would be in favor of Valentine’s Day activities, but we’ll go with Ace. Ace is definitely the romantic of the bunch, and consistently goes out of his way to make his girlfriend feel loved and special, so I think he’d go all-out with this holiday. Sparr’a on the other hand, is more likely to be the one to remind people that not everyone is dating, not everyone likes teddy bears, and not everyone needs to be so darn touchy-feely on this day.
2. Where would your protagonist want to go for a date? Kya gets the simple things about life. The old dinner and a movie thing would be perfectly ok with her, and she’d probably want to see a comedy of some sort.
3. Who would try to play cupid for another character? I think Cota would be most likely for this. He can read people’s emotions, so he’d know who likes who, even if they’re refusing to do anything about their feelings or if they aren’t brave enough to initiate. Or, he’d have some fun messing with people who absolutely despise each other.
4. Who’s playing bed, wed, behead? Lance is getting bedded, no two ways about that; they’re never a shortage of girls who would love to spend time with him. As I said before, Ace is the romantic, so picking V-day as the time to propose or get married is perfect for him. And Arda has probably had enough of this red and pink nonsense right from the start of February, so she might get fed up and pick someone to re-enact St. Valentine’s death.
5. Who is the character everyone wants to go out with? Once again, this is most likely to be either Cota or Lance. They’re both major players and well-known in the Fortress for keeping company over.
6. Thieves raided the realm! There is a sudden shortage of roses, chocolates, jewelry, and stuffed critters! What does your love interest give your protagonist instead? Wes would probably make something for Kya, like one of his wood carvings or he’d just take her on a date and have some quality time with her.
7. Who is just waiting for all the Valentine’s Day candy to go on sale? Sparr’a. Candy at half price s probably the only redeeming quality of this holiday, and she’s ready to stock up.
8. Who is going around, spouting lines about true love so they can get laid? I would say Cota, but I’ve used him twice already, so I’ll go with Monica. She knows what she wants and how to get it, so in little time at all, she could have potentials lined up on her doorstep.
